The Korean automotive industry at PSNM headquarters

Last week, we welcomed a delegation of companies from South Korea to the PSNM office. The delegation included representatives of AIN Global Foundation (co-organizer of the pavilion), as well as GNTP, DGMC, June Heung Filter, DMC, Ssancar, Wowtech and Siliconevalley. These companies are manufacturers and suppliers in the automotive sector.

We discussed the direction of Poland’s automotive industry and the opportunities for cooperation. Here are a few key figures we shared:

Poland has become a major battery manufacturing hub in Europe. Since 2018, investment in the battery sector has exceeded €8 billion. Korean companies have played a significant role in this development, including LG Energy Solution, SK Hi-Tech Battery Materials, SK nexilis Poland, Enchem, SungEel HiTech, Dongshin Motech and Korea Electric Terminal.

This potential is beginning to translate into market growth. Poland is the sixth-largest market for new cars in Europe. Meanwhile, the used BEV market grew by more than 70% year-on-year. Around 270 new public charging points are added every month, bringing the total to nearly 14,000 at the end of August.

The stakes are economic. Under an ambitious development scenario, the e-mobility sector could account for more than 5.5% of Poland’s GDP by 2050. The decisions made today will determine whether we help shape the new value chain or simply watch it evolve.

We would like to thank Monika Kisiel from the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) for organizing the meeting. Our thanks also go to Mr. Kim Jae-Suk, CEO of AIN Global Foundation, and the entire delegation for visiting us.
