On 23 September, the inaugural meeting of the PSNM Autonomous Transport Committee took place during the New Mobility Congress in Katowice. The Committee is a joint initiative of PSNM, the Association of Automotive Parts Distributors and Manufacturers (SDCM), and the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Automotive Industry Institute (PIMOT).
Representatives of public administration, local governments, transport operators, the technology sector and the expert community took part in the meeting. This marks an important step towards creating the conditions for the development and practical deployment of autonomous technologies in Poland.
What will be the Committee’s priorities?
At its inaugural meeting, the Committee identified eight key areas of activity, including:
– Simplifying legal procedures for testing autonomous vehicles.
– Developing a national strategy for autonomous transport.
– Drawing on European experience and best practices.
– Adapting road and digital infrastructure.
– Launching pilot projects, including the goal of implementing at least one autonomous vehicle pilot in public spaces by the end of 2027.
– Standardising and facilitating data exchange.
– Supporting innovation, cooperation and investment.
– Developing frameworks for safety, legal liability and cybersecurity.
The immediate priority? Concrete legislative changes. The Committee aims to develop proposals for legal amendments that will simplify and accelerate procedures for testing autonomous vehicles and facilitate their deployment in transport.
We would like to thank Łukasz Franek, Chair of the Committee, for leading the meeting, and all participants for their commitment and engagement.
